WHAT'S ON.
There Is Rice At Home (Seeds of Change, Havering London) is a series of interactive workshops that use food, play, and participation to explore culture, belonging, and community connection. Across the programme, participants share and learn cultural cooking practices through structured interactions and challenges, building confidence and relationships as they co-create the experience together.
The project culminates in a set of final sharings led by five participants, who present what they’ve learned through the process in a high-energy format inspired by Bake Off, Hell’s Kitchen, and Come Dine With Me—part storytelling, part cooking demo, part friendly competition—inviting audiences into an entertaining, communal celebration of exchange and growth.
Two Places at Once is a Connections Through Culture project led by State As Such CIC / State of the [Art] in partnership with BACK Art Foundation (Bangladesh), supported by the British Council.
The project develops a cross-cultural, sound-led installation and participatory process that explores how climate, migration, memory, and belonging shape lived experience across geographies — holding the feeling of being “here and elsewhere” at the same time.
Built through a structured programme of co-design labs, workshops, and collaborative listening practices between UK and Bangladesh artists, the work focuses on sonic storytelling, shared authorship, and the emotional architecture of listening.
At its heart is an invitation: to step into a “soundroom” where personal archives and collective memory become a relational environment — a space for connection, translation, and community-making across distance.
